It has a natural resistance to termite attack and has a very low shrinkage factor which makes it much less suseptible to splitting. Scandinavian Redwood Renowned for its durability and strength it is a great structural timber, making it our number 1 choice for all our Gazebos, Both Thatch and Western Red Cedar. Screws & Bolts Quality steel, class 3 fixings will not rust, fade or leave stains or marks on the timber. Perfect for outdoor furniture. Massive 280mm x 16mm Coach bolts ensure the fascias are securely fastened to the posts. Stain Outdoorable Living stain has been developed to withstand Australia’s harsh climate with a stain that is water repellent, mildew resistant, U.V. blocked finish that penetrates into timber, binding the wood fibres together, providing protection from moisture attack and preventing alternate swelling and shrinkage that causes timber to crack, splinter and erode. Maintenance Maintaining your Gazebo is very important if you wish to preserve the natural beauty of this fantastic investment. The beauty of the Outdoorable Living Thatch Gazebo is its low maintenance factor. Once in place the Thatch component of the roof requires no maintenance apart from keeping ant leaves off it. For the remainder, re-staining is recommended 6 to 8 weeks after set-up then once a year is generally adequate to keep your Gazebo in premium condition. A tell tail sign of aging is when the Gazebo starts to fade. When the timber goes a grey colour it is well over due for a re-stain. Take the time to do this and you will get many more years of enjoyment from this great product. Prepare for staining To stain simply wipe down your Gazebo with warm water and MILD detergent (dishwashing liquid) and wipe with a cloth making sure all dirt etc is removed, then rinse with clean water. Once dry apply stain with a brush, following instructions from the Outdoorable Living stain tin. Stain can be purchased in one litre tins. A timber cleaner is also available for the Gazebo’s that have gone grey to remove any old finish. • Only sand when removing any noticeable marks. • Make sure you stain when the weather is going to be good for at least two days as the stain can take up to 48hrs at 20 degrees to dry, so in colder weather it will take longer. Sometimes your Gazebo may take on a slightly cloudy look but after a few weeks this will disappear. Do Not • Use any harsh detergents or bleaches to clean timber. • Use a high pressure cleaner (Gurney) as this can mark the timber, making the re staining more challenging. |
